The law firm successfully brought the case of Peterson v. Commissioner of Revenue, which led to one of the largest tax rebates in the history of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, i.e. ~ $250 million. In Peterson, the law firm successfully argued that it was unconstitutional to change the capital gains tax rate in the middle of a calendar year, and successfully crafted a legislative compromise resulting in the rebates to thousands of taxpayers.
The law firm has also handled tax appeals and successfully represented business and individuals who were the subject of criminal tax investigations by the Internal Revenue Service or by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.
