Stephen M. PolitiStephen M. Politi is a graduate of Boston University Law School, J.D. and LL.M. (Taxation). He concentrates his practice in state, federal and local taxation (civil and criminal).

He is the former Chief Counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and former Counsel to the Massachusetts Joint Legislative Committee on Taxation. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Bentley College Graduate School of Taxation from 1977 - present.

Mr. Politi was the 1988 Nominee for the Journal of State Taxation's, State and Local Tax Person of the Year Award. He is General Counsel to the Massachusetts Association of Public Accountants and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of State Taxation.

Mr. Politi is the co-author of Massachusetts Taxation: The Law and the Lore and co-author of Massachusetts Taxation and DOR Practice, A Guide to Collections, Audits, Abatements, and Appeals. He is also Editor of, Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board Reporter. He authors the annual Guidebook to Massachusetts Taxes published by CCH.

Articles by Mr. Politi have been cited as authority by the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the Journal of Bank Taxation.

Mr. Politi is the former Chairman of the Board of Selectmen of Lexington, Massachusetts, former President of the Lexington Historical Society and former Chairman of the Lexington Historic Districts Commission.

He is married to Joan E. Politi, Esq., a former University Attorney at Harvard University and is the father of Seth, age 13 and Luke, age 11.
