This
was a civil rights and malpractice case in which seven mental patients sued

Stephen Schultz was lead counsel for the defendants. A 74 day trial was held
on the merits. The defense won the damages issue at trial. The constitutional
issue of a committed mental patient's right to refuse treatment was argued to
the United States Supreme Court. National experts from across the country
testified regarding the use of antipsychotic medications to treat committed
mental patient. Mr. Schultz has written several articles discussing the case.
The case received considerable local and national coverage (Boston Globe,
Boston Herald, Good Morning America). If you believe you are involved in a dispute which may need to be litigated, please contact Mr. Schultz directly by phone or by e-mail at sschultz@engelschultz.com. Engel & Schultz, LLP ©
